“Selected Aspects of Sri Lankan Rules in Private International Law in the Context of Family Law and the Sri Lankan Experience of the Hague Convention on International Child Abduction” – Speaker

The 3rdAnnual Conference was held in Colombo, Sri Lanka in September 2013. Mr. John Wilson was invited to speak at the said conference and provide perspectives of a local practitioner.
Mr. Wilson’s presentation was on “Selected Aspects of Sri Lankan Rules in Private International Law in the Context of Family Law and the Sri Lankan Experience of the Hague Convention on International Child Abduction”.
He spoke on cross-border divorce in Sri Lanka and the applicable principles and on the Sri Lankan experience ofthe Hague Convention on Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction. He discussed the law and provide summary of the various cases that have been filed in Sri Lanka in terms of the Convention
Mr. Wilson shared the panel with a Justice of the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka and a leading Professor of the University of Colombo.
